Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave Expansion Pass Revealed, Three Waves Planned Through 2027

Nintendo has unveiled a paid Expansion Pass for its strategy role-playing game Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave, with content scheduled to arrive in three separate waves, PNN reports. The company announced the pass on Thursday, October 15 through its official channels, including Nintendo Today. The pass is priced at 39,900 won.

The first wave of content was released the same day the pass was announced. It introduces four pieces of equipment inspired by the Hero's Relics, the weapon class that appeared in the previous title, Fire Emblem: Three Houses. According to PNN, these new weapons are framed in the game's fiction as prototype versions, and players obtain them by completing specific quests during Part 1 of the story.

Which prototype a player receives depends on the route they follow. On Kai's path, the reward is Prototype No. 7, modeled after Dimitri's lance Areadbhar. Dietrich's route yields Prototype No. 1, based on the Sword of the Creator wielded by Byleth and Byleth. Players on Seodora's path receive Prototype No. 11, a nod to Claude's bow Failnaught, while Reda's route offers Prototype No. 5, patterned after Edelgard's axe Aymur.

Why it matters

The Expansion Pass gives Nintendo a way to keep Fortune's Weave in front of players well past launch, spreading new content across roughly a year and a half. For a strategy RPG with multiple branching routes, the staggered structure also lets the developers tie each drop to specific parts of the campaign rather than dumping everything at once. The first wave leans on nostalgia, reviving weapon designs familiar to veterans of Three Houses, while later waves push into new story territory.

Wave two brings three gods into the fold

The second wave is set to arrive this winter. PNN reports that three characters previously seen only as guest units or NPCs will become full-fledged allies during Part 3, the Salvation arc.

The three are Aurora, the god of stars and voyages, who could previously be controlled directly as a guest character; Smirnos, the god of magic; and Jura, the goddess of abundance, both of whom appeared as NPCs. According to Nintendo, these units cannot be leveled up or developed through traditional progression, but they compensate with combat strength befitting their divine status.

Wave two also adds four costumes that change how characters look. The lineup consists of the Gladiator King's garb, an Agartha uniform, a sun god's ceremonial robe, and formal attire for Hal Hari. PNN notes that players can acquire these outfits during Part 1 or in the Salvation arc.

Wave three shifts focus to four clan leaders

The final wave is planned for sometime in 2027. Its story centers on four leaders who advanced to the main bracket of the Dagsion Grand Gladiatorial Tournament alongside the game's four protagonists, Kai, Dietrich, Seodora and Reda. Those leaders are Bertrand, Tarimun, Orhel and Anatolia, and the new narrative will also explore the clans they command, according to PNN.

That structure echoes the announcement's framing, which highlighted the remaining four clans as a focal point for the closing content drop.

Nintendo has not specified exact release dates within the winter window for wave two or within 2027 for wave three. Players who want the full slate of additions will need to purchase the pass, since the content is distributed as paid downloadable material rather than a free update.

What to watch: Nintendo's next official update on the Expansion Pass, expected to narrow down the winter timing for wave two and confirm how the three divine units will fit into existing party compositions.
